Dr. Powers received simultaneous B.S. degrees in chemistry and biology at UC Irvine and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Southern California after research in molecule-surface reaction dynamics and energy transfer. Dr. Powers has over twenty years experience in the design and manufacture of optical thin film coatings and has directed Newport Thin Film Laboratory for more than fifteen years.
